What is a wiki, and why do I care?

Well, a Wiki is a breed of web site that users can edit. The Philadelphia Riders decided to try using a Wiki because we've got a lot of knowledge, experience an expertise in the are of motorcycles. It is our hope that our membership will help create a great online resource by helping create, manage, and update conent using the Wiki.

You should care because it will help make a more useful site for you and others.

How do I get started?

You'll need to get an account and learn to edit wiki pages. To get an account send an email to info@philadelphiariders.com.

Editing wiki pages is pretty straight forward. Our wiki uses the software that popular sites like WikiPedia use. It's called MediaWiki. You can find instructions on editing in MediaWiki in the Wikimedia Meta Wiki Help Section, sepcifically the Editing section.

What is the etticuite for editing pages

The whole point of a wiki is that it's a democratic place to create information. If you see errors in pages, or things that need editing, edit them. We're a pretty tight community here, so if you think the origional author might take issue, just contact them. You can find the editor by looking at the Hitory for a page.

The Discussion link is used to hold a side conversation about an article or page. This is a good place to put your comments about what changes you'd like to make and then email the author to let them know to check the page.

In MediaWiki we can roll back changes if they are deemed inappropriate or inaccurate and a complete history of who made what changes is kept.
